A comparison of mechanisms for compensating negative impacts of system integration

چکیده

The demand for passenger and freight transportation has grown sharply over the last decades will triple by 2050. This also dramatically impacts environment as traffic is one of primary sources CO2 emission. Platooning, which defined driving automated vehicles in convoys with minimal inter-vehicle distance enabled vehicular communication, offers several benefits like energy savings due to slipstream effects, homogenization flows, increased capacity streets, well improved safety communication. However, at inner positions a platoon experience higher than first vehicle, compensation effects different have be taken into account when integrating platoon. In this paper, we discuss strategies on how incentivize participate platooning based directly or indirectly compensating fewer resulting from integration system. Our considerations integrate ideas research about altruism, social sciences, organ donation, task scheduling computers, professional cycling sports. experiments show that time spent position negative split equally among all using our mechanisms. Additionally, found characteristics – e.g., number lanes density impact performance We further provide discussion identified challenges apply proposed other systems require self-integration.
